Over $60,000 Raised for the DC Firefighters' Burn Foundation
Fireman's Challenge 2011
Fireman’s Challenge is a weeklong event designed by the Delta Alpha chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity to raise money for the DC Firefighter’s Burn Foundation. Throughout the week over 600 girls from ten sororities on the George Washington University campus along with firemen from the Foggy Bottom Fire Department participate in events ranging from penny wars, to feed the firemen, to relay races. During the week, our fraternity accepts donations on behalf of the Burn Foundation. Last year we were able to raise over $25,000 and this year, with your help, we hope to raise even more money to support the D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Greetings from the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity!
Fireman’s Challenge is an annual philanthropy event developed and designed by the Delta Alpha Chapter of The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity to raise money for the DC Firefighter’s Burn Foundation. In this weeklong event, over 500 girls from ten sororities compete in a number of events, judged by firefighters from our local Foggy Bottom Fire Department.
The events, which are designed to test the resourcefulness, creativity, and athleticism of the sororities, are all based on the day in the life of a firefighter. Fire trucks pump out water while the girls compete in the Bucket Brigade. The Culinary Skills of each sorority are tested in Feed the Fireman. During Skit Night the girls are judged by our local firefighters on their creativity as they choreograph their own skit and perform it live in GW’s Funger Hall. Finally, athleticism is tested when the sororities compete in Pike Spike, a Volleyball tournament held in GW’s Learner Health and Wellness Center.
We, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity welcome you to join our cause. All money Raised during the week goes directly to the DC Firefighter’s Burn Foundation whose mission is to prevent burns and to improve the quality of life for burn survivors through programs, education, and research. Last year, we raised over $20,380. We hope to reach and surpass that this year. With your help we can achieve our goal.
Please feel free to stop by our final event, The Fireman’s Challenge, April 24th, 2010. The event is held in University Yard. PIKE’s true colors shine as we raise money such a worthy cause. A Free Barbeque serving hot-dogs and hamburgers will be available to all in attendance. The firefighters, and their trucks, will be present, helping to make this special event a success.
